San Diego Community Power’s (SDCP) Solar Battery Savings Program is a customer-centric initiative aimed at helping single-family homeowners within SDCP’s service area transition to clean energy. This program supports homeowners who are ready to enhance their energy independence by installing solar panels and battery storage systems or by adding battery storage to their existing solar setups.
The program offers two financial incentives to participating customers:
- Upfront Incentive: A rebate designed to lower the initial cost of purchasing and installing the battery storage system.
- Performance Incentive: Customers receive ongoing financial benefits based on how much battery capacity they use and dispatch to either their home or the grid during peak hours, helping both homeowners and the community by stabilizing the energy grid.
By participating in this program, SDCP customers can make solar and battery installations more affordable while maximizing their energy savings and contributing to a cleaner, more resilient power grid.
How does adding a battery benefit you?
- Reduce your energy bill
By installing a battery in your home, you can use it during the “On- Peak” period between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., to lower your utility bill when energy costs are higher. - Leverage credits
Discharging your battery between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. allows you to earn higher credits for any excess battery power you send back to the grid. - Receive ongoing incentives
When you participate in this program, you can leverage an additional $0.10/kWh during the daily dispatch window whether your battery is being used to power your home or go back to the utility grid! - Support the local utility grid
Energy demand is often at its highest during the “On-Peak” period; by discharging your battery during that time, you are supporting the local utility grid and your community.
